Anytime people are working in the same area, whether it’s in a coworking environment or in a traditional office, it is always a good idea to have guidelines. I have worked in both environments and have found that some basic rules you learned in kindergarten are just as appropriate for office life. Phrases such as: be neighborly, use your indoor voice, share, ten minute tidy and others kept crossing my mind while writing these tips.
If you’re new to coworking, here are a few tips to get you on the right path.
-To get the most of your coworking experience, make a point to meet the other members of your coworking space. The idea of coworking is to bounce ideas off of coworkers and to share business opportunities. Most likely that’s why you’re coworking and not working at home or in an isolated office somewhere.
-Invest in a set of headphones and use when listening to music and videos on your computer. They are especially helpful when you need to concentrate and block out office noises.
-Be thoughtful when using shared areas, especially conference rooms and other high demand spaces.
-Bring a positive attitude to the office.
That’s four ideas to get you started. Please share your suggestions for additional coworking tips in the comments.
